SKINCARE TO TAKE WITH YOU ON HOLIDAY THIS SEASON

Take these ladies along - Estée, Tatcha, Helena, Barbara and more

Words by Christina Ko

The Spot: Chamonix

The Skincare: It’ll be cold – you know that much, but you’ll also be exposed to the elements if you’re out skiing. Must-haves include a good sunscreen for active use, like The History of Whoo’s Gongjinhyang Sun Stick, and a highly protective cream that shields your face from the environment (you can’t go wrong with Crème de La Mer). A week before your trip, begin using Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampoules, continuing throughout the duration as a super-charged serum replacement that relieves stressed skin and fights signs of ageing.

The Spot: Bali

The Skincare: Your best friend isn’t a beauty product, it’s a hat. Besides that, you’ll need a sunscreen that won’t clog pores and can be reapplied frequently, such as Helena Rubinstein’s Premium UV BB Base, which has coverage as well as SPF 50 so you won’t have to bother with foundation when you’re by the pool. In the evenings, make sure you have Kiehl's Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque, which can soothe and calm sun-damaged skin in just five minutes, followed by an overnight nourisher like La Prairie's Skin Caviar Luxe Sleep Mask.

The Spot: New York City

The Skincare: Outside, it’s cold and dry; inside, it’s hot and dry. At least one thing is consistent, and that’s a need for hydration – we love new formats of skincare that allow you to infuse moisture without disturbing your big city makeup look, whether it’s magical mists (literally, Omorovicza’s Magic Moisture Mist) or mattifying powders that contain skincare ingredients (Sisley's Phyto-Poudre Loose Powder). Don’t forget your anti-pollution products – cities are scary places, replete with skin-agers like blue light from screens, free radicals in the air and general dust and dirt swirling around. Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Anti-Pollution Drops pack well and can be mixed into your skincare routine.

The Spot: Bangkok

The Skincare: Anti-pollution is also necessary in this urban-tropical destination, and because Bangkok’s smog-causing traffic jams are legendary, you might want to add in Helena Rubinstein’s Powercell Anti-Pollution Mask, which is a massage-off formula with a physical exfoliant that protects and moisturises. But first, double-cleanse with Shu Uemura’s Anti/Oxi+ Pollutant & Dullness Clarifying Cleansing Oil and Estée Lauder Nutritious Active-Tremella Micellar cleanser. In this environment, look for products with a light texture, like Tatcha’s The Water Cream which feels like a dream on the skin without sacrificing moisturising properties.
