Pioneering lifestyle brand Shanghai Tang has always sought inspiration in China’s rich heritage – and its first fragrance collection is no exception.
Their debut Silk Road Collection is inspired by the mystery and sensuality of the Silk Road itself, the famed trade route that gave the world access to Asia’s most precious jewels, silks and spices.
The Scents
Award-winning master parfumier Carlos Benaim has designed a suite of unique, multi-layered scents that evoke the romance and sense of adventure felt by travellers bringing their treasures along the Silk Road to the Western world – a sensory journey that perfectly epitomises Shanghai Tang’s East meets West sensibilities.
The collection comprises eight scents – the luckiest number in Chinese culture –all made from purely natural ingredients.
For Women
Gold Lily
A mysterious and sensual scent featuring vibrant lily cloaked in accents of jasmine, orange flower, patchouli and musk.
Orchid Bloom
A majestically complex scent starring velvet orchid, accented with rose and top notes of juicy berries against a musk and patchouli background.
Rose Silk
An exquisitely dreamy blend of rose petals and magnolia combined with cassis, cardamom, vetiver and musk.
Spring Jasmine
Heady jasmine absolute is enhanced by violet accents, creamy sandalwood and sheer musk to create a delicately mesmerising fragrance.
Oriental Pearl
An exotically rich and decadent scent featuring amber accord magnified by delicate rose absolute, patchouli heart, benzoin and vanilla.
For Men
Mandarin Tea
An uplifting and comforting combination of vibrant mandarin, crisp bergamot, lush neroli and mate leaves.
Jade Dragon
Fresh vetiver heart is accented with juicy bergamot, bright tea leaves and intoxicating jasmine to create an earthy, masculine scent.
L’Orient
A bold, powerful cologne that layers textured cedarwood oil with hints of pink pepper, leatherwood, elemi and vetiver.
The Bottle
Made using the finest materials and exquisite handcrafting, each bottle features Shanghai Tang’s signature “shòu” motif, the Chinese symbol for longevity. The women’s bottle has the shòu symbol engraved in enamel and gold leaf on its cap, creating the centerpiece for a striking design that forms the shape of the lucky number eight. Meanwhile, the men’s bottle focuses on clean precise lines, with a handcrafted glass cap inlaid with a shòu symbol made from solid silver.
An exclusive engraving service is available at Lane Crawford ifc mall from September 9 to October 4, 2015, ensuring that each bottle is a unique work of art. Conveniently customised on-site while you wait with a maximum of 20 characters, this is the perfect way to create a fragrance that is every bit as unique as you are.
