REFINE YOUR PALETTE

Hourglass’ new Curator eyeshadow palettes are endlessly customisable – here are our ultimate combinations

Words by Christina Ko

When it comes to everyday eyeshadow, you’re only as good as your toolkit. Customising your own palette can be overwhelming, and though it may seem counterintuitive to select tones similar to those you already have, the power is in the product — the more use you can get out of one palette, the better.

Cue Hourglass’ Curator palettes. They’re eco-friendly – each is made from recycled materials and uses vegan formulas – but they also come with snap-in singles which means that you can replace each hue individually once you run out.

Here, we build out five fun palette options for all occasions.

Everyday Neutrals: Mod + Lot + Doe

To create a palette that is perfect for everyday, consider soft taupe satin tone Mod, a perfect base and transition colour; medium red-brown Doe, and matte chestnut-brown Lot. This combination can create quite a surprising array of looks just by varying the intensity of darker browns.

Wearable Brights: Pow + Rye + Doe + Pin + Mod

Keeping your brights in warmer territory makes them more wearable, and one option is to combine satin neutral rose Pin with clay brown Doe to start, adding in a glittery metallic like red Pow or shimmery bronze Rye. Bone matte Mod makes a daring choice for an inner eye highlight.

Day to Night: Air + Doe + Arc + Ink+ Ash

Matte nude Air is layered perfectly with clay brown Doe for a low-maintenance daytime look – you could even add a little coffee colour with Arc to achieve a more blended ombre effect that nods to the 90s. As night falls, Ink is a solid matte brown that can be added at any time for extra drama, complemented by metallic Ash.
