With a fresh restock and exclusive new colourways coming to Lane Crawford, we caught up with the brand’s co-founder, Nick Martire to discuss norda’s SS25 collection, the new 005 model, an athletic business journey and the Hong Kong routes they’re excited to explore.

Can you share the inspiration behind the SS25 collection?
What themes or concepts guided your design process this season?
The story of SS25 is purely centered around pulling colour inspiration from various natural phenomena. Parhelion, Vermillion, “Glitch” (which speaks to the patchwork of patterns), Rhodotus, Sage, Sand and Ash are all named after what inspired them.

Can you share with us some standout pieces from the SS25 collection that you believe embody the spirit of norda?
The norda 001 RZ Vermillion is inspired by Canadian Adventurer Ray Zahab, and a portion of the proceeds always go towards Ray’s foundation, Impossibe to Possible, which benefits youth adventure education.
As a co-founder, what has been your proudest moment with norda, particularly related to the upcoming collection?
Through our teamwork, we continue to deliver exceptional unique colours and soon new products coming with the groundbreaking norda 005.

How does the new 005 model differ from previous releases, and what innovations can we expect in its design and functionality?
The 005 is the world’s lightest, strongest and most resilient trail super shoe ever made; it features an entirely bio-based Dyneema Upper, the world’s strongest and lightest fibre. A purely Arnitel TPEE midsole for the highest performance. A brand new Vibram Mega Grip Elite soleplate, the finest rubber made from Vibram.

How do you see the intersection of fashion and outdoor performance evolving, and how does norda fit into that vision?
“Performance is a lifestyle”. At norda we only design and create the highest performance products, and we are just fine if people want to wear them for other uses.

Looking ahead, how do you see norda evolving in future collections beyond the SS25?
Our company continues to expand globally to all regions around the world. We are focused on bringing new footwear products with the 005 and soon after even a 008. You’ll also see new pieces of trail equipment released within 2025.
What excites you most about the launch of the SS25 collection and the new 005 model?
We’re super excited to see the athletes and people’s reaction when they see and hold the norda 005 in hand, and on their feet. There truly is no other shoe ever created like it for the trails. It is exceptionally light, and you can tell the materials are from another planet when you feel it for the first time.
Hong Kong is renowned for its breathtaking outdoor hiking trails. Are there any specific outdoor routes you’re eager to explore in the city?
Yes, our good friends took us to Lantau for the first time a few years ago and we cannot wait to explore the trails, the fishing village and beaches at Tai-o, and of course the trails going up to the peak. There is nothing like the views here in HK.
