Lasting Luxury
Niche lipstick brand La Bouche Rouge Paris lands at Lane Crawford
Sustainability isn’t something you necessarily think a lot about while applying lipstick, but it’s what La Bouche Rouge Paris founder Nicolas Gerlier wants on your mind, at least when you’re shopping for your latest shade.
The Parisian luxury lipstick label doesn’t just offer an opulent formula and rich selection of hues – it all starts with the case, an objet d’art made from supple leather and sleek metal that’s reusable: “Our leather is among the most prestigious we have in France, from an ancient tannery that works only with exclusive French maisons,” explains Gerlier. “Our cases are customizable with our customers’ initials directly in store, in five minutes, which make the perfect gift and unique object. The case lasts for life and then you can purchase only the refills.”
The make-up of each lipstick is worth nothing, too – it’s PMMA-free so no detrimental microplastic is consumed, and there are no preservatives, instead using a natural antioxidant that’s free from parabens and other nasty stuff.
A total of 25 colours will be available at Lane Crawford, running the gamut from satin to matte and balms, including limited editions created by brand friends Anja Rubik, Chloë Sevigny and model Giedre Dukauskaite; as well as brand new items: Le Baume Rouge and Cherry Pink.
