INTRODUCING: KIRIN
DJ-turned-designer Peggy Gou’s cool-girl essentials
DJ sensation and style icon Peggy Gou's recently dropped womenswear line, Kirin, was destined for buzz. With plenty of streetwear swagger, a dusting of high-fashion references, the backing of Virgil Abloh under the New Guards Group, and of course Peggy herself at the centre, the label is a recipe for exactly what cool girls want to wear now.
That Midas touch is something Peggy 's been cultivating for a while. Before adding fashion designer to her resume, the South Korea-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer made waves in the music industry, founding her own independent record label, Gudu Records, and playing at more than 100 gigs a year, including festival heavyweights Coachella and Glastonbury. More recently, she made it to the Forbes 2019 Asian 30 under 30 list.
When it comes to Peggy’s debut fashion line, expect a collection as fresh and high-energy as the artist herself: cue colour blocking, vinyl fabrics, faux fur and smiley faces. Silhouette-wise, a backless scuba dress, baseball jersey-kimono hybrid and cinched trench with cut-out detailing are all high-impact standouts. As for how to style it? Make like Peggy herself and pare it all back with a pair of Nike kicks.
