Your bag is empty
“I couldn’t ask for a better life coach,” gushes Danny Fang of his Tibetan Spaniel Gizmo, who inspired his innovative luxury dog leash brand, High5dogs, a winner of Lane Crawford’s The Next New 2016. “Gizmo has incredible emotional intelligence - he feels when people are upset and consoles them. When my wife Kelly and I argue, he comes in between us and makes us stop.”
The cuteness continues with Fang’s description of arriving home. “I might only get a brief kiss from Kelly, but from Gizmo I get a five-minute kissing feast. Even if I just went out to throw out the trash. Is that unhealthy?” he jokes.
The adorable Gizmo inspired Fang’s company five years ago. After Fang felt guilty about leaving the pup at home to run errands because tethering the leash was too much of a hassle, it sparked the solution of a leash that can be tethered with one hand. The leashing system also allows dog owners to choose from four different ways to leash your dog. In turn, this idea grew into a collection of leashes including the shoulder leash and the leader leash.
With Fang’s family spread across four different continents, they aren’t able to get together every Christmas, “Although the minute we do get together it feels like we saw each other yesterday. I am lucky with that. Although I am most grateful for our little family here in Hong Kong,” he reflects.
So what does the biggest dog lover do with his pooch over the festive season? “We’ll be at the beach, with no lifeguards, Gizmo can run around in the water and the sand, going completely nuts. We’ll also visit our local Sai Kung Stray Friends shelter to bring them some goodies and walk some of the dogs there,” he says. “That way, they can have a bit of Christmas too. I’m also looking forward to waking up, not having anything to do, and then falling asleep again in a doggy pile with Kelly and Gizmo.”
