ALL ABOUT THE NEW BALANCE 327
The ruling retro sneakers you’ll be wearing on heavy rotation
Words by Bridget Barnett
Whether you’re looking at the feet of an influencer with 180 million followers or a parent in the suburbs doing the daily school pick-up, there’s an equal chance you’ll spot a pair of New Balance kicks. The Boston-based sportswear brand’s impressively wide fanbase is something they are rightly proud to declare.
New Balance’s buzziest model right now – 327 – holds the same broad-reaching and genderless appeal as their other best-selling styles, but with the added allure of a heavy seventies sensibility. The style draws its strongest references from three archival models – New Balance 320 from 1976 and New Balance’s 355 and SuperComp, both from 1977 – to form a design panelled with suede overlays on nylon uppers, fitted with rubber soles, and punctuation with an oversized “N” logo. The result? Sneakers versatile enough to transition fluidly between outfits and seasons with ease, while still very much leaving their mark.
While the kicks quickly earned a reputation for being almost impossible to find – apart from a few rare sightings cropping up on celebrities such as Tom Holland and Hailey Bieber – you can now get your hands on a pair right now. The model has just landed at Lane Crawford with a fresh drop of new colourways for both men and women.
